Thought of the
Month-February A
Great Commission Church
Does the church have a “church planting” strategy? Has the local assembly
targeted areas in ones ministry area where the local church is not reaching
because of distance, ethnicity, or drive time? Are various “people groups” being
targeted as an evangelistic outreach with the purpose of beginning churches in
these areas?
Is the Church interested in the concept of “Redemptive Lift” in their church
life and community involvement?
“Redemptive lift” is best defined as “the process of change that happens in a
converts life that not only effects his inner man but his entire being, body,
soul and spirit.” It not only changes his life but it effects his
lifestyle, his financial educational world and standard of living. With that
said, does the church offer assistance in making this process a greater and
quicker reality? Are courses offered in parenting and financial management? Are
English classes offered for non-English speaking people? If the church is in a
inner city area, is any plans given for the homeless? Is counseling available
for those that struggles with addictive issues or needs assistance and direction
in their lives?
In conclusion, Christ gave us our marching orders. A tall order it is.
However, we have been given the power to accomplish the task. Acts 1:8. “But ye
shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be
witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto
the uttermost part of the earth.” The power to accomplish the task is equal to
the task itself!
