What Should A Ministerial Group Offer Its Body of Members page 2 of 5
World Vision
This becomes the heart and soul of a religious group. Without world vision it really has no right to exist. World vision is hauntingly summed up in our Lord's words, "Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature." Taking the gospel to every nation and people group is not an elective to be thought about or quibbled over, but a mandate. Any ministerial group that is not equipping and sending men and women out into the world is little more than a religious "good 'ole boys club." No hungry, sincere, young man or woman would seriously consider whether or not they would want to be a part of such a group. As I travel across the country, I find disconnected men and women who hunger to be a part of something with real purpose -- purpose that is focused on what is in the heart of God. To seek and to save "that which was lost" was why He came. Why should anyone's purpose be anything less? Outside of that driving purpose, these idealistic ones prefer to stay detached rather than to waste their time, money and energy on something that doesn't fulfill this deep-seated need. There is a growing list of "old men," like myself, who long for something that transcends common religiosity.
Training and Mentoring Capabilities
Doesn't it seem natural that one's religious group should provide continuing training as well as platforming notable men and women who could mentor the younger? In order for this to happen, the strengths and giftedness of it's constituents must be known, published, promoted and staged.
Ministerial Vision
Equipping, equipping, equipping. This is the main function of the church. Christ spent over three years equipping that ragtag band of men called apostles that the Holy Spirit used to launch the Apostolic church on the Day of Pentecost A.D.33. Equipping is assisting men and women in absolutely knowing themselves, their callings, and their giftedness in order for them to fulfill their destinies. In fulfilling these individual destinies the purpose of the church is achieved. Much time and energy must be given by a religious order to see that this is accomplished.
ious groups many times fulfill the definition above ... and in some cases do a better job than we do.
